Who this is for

  • Employed drivers with a T4, who may also have meal and travel claims to sort out
  • Owner operators who work for themselves and report business income on a personal return
  • Incorporated trucking businesses, from one truck to a small fleet, that need a T2 return and books kept through the year
  • Any of the above who have received a letter from the CRA

What to bring

  • Your carrier or contractor agreements
  • Settlement statements or pay statements for the year
  • Truck ownership or lease records, and loan statements
  • Fuel, repair, insurance, licensing and other expense records
  • Logbooks or trip records, if you claim meals or travel
  • GST filings made during the year, if registered
  • Last year's returns and Notices of Assessment
  • Any CRA letter, with the response date shown on it

Three different situations

Employed driver. Your pay comes on a T4. We prepare your personal return and sort out any claims you can make for meals, lodging or other costs your employer did not cover.

Owner operator, not incorporated. Your income is business income on your personal return. We prepare that return with your income and expenses, handle GST if you are registered, and keep the records in order.

Incorporated trucking business. The corporation files a T2 return. We prepare it, keep the books through the year if you want us to, handle GST and payroll, and prepare T4 and T4A slips. We also look at how the corporation is set up and paid, because that affects how the CRA treats it.

What we do

  • Personal returns for drivers and owner operators
  • T2 corporate returns for trucking companies
  • Bookkeeping, GST and payroll through the year
  • T4 and T4A slips, including box 048 fees for services
  • A plain explanation of the personal services business rules and how they might apply to you
  • Help preparing a first response when the CRA writes to you

Received a CRA letter?

Tell us what the letter concerns and the response date shown. We will explain whether we can assist and what information is needed for an initial review.

We do not promise to reverse a reassessment, remove penalties or guarantee any deduction. We tell you plainly what the letter means and what your options are.

How it works

  1. Call or request a callback. Tell us whether you are employed, an owner operator or incorporated, and whether there is a CRA letter.
  2. Bring your records to our Surrey office. We go through them with you and tell you what is missing.
  3. We prepare and file. You review before anything is filed. We tell you what to keep for next year.

Fees

Fees depend on whether there is a corporation and the state of the records. We tell you the fee before we start.

Common questions

I drive for one company through my own corporation. Is that a problem?

It can be, but not automatically. The CRA uses five conditions to decide if a corporation is a personal services business. One of them asks whether you would reasonably be an employee of the customer if your corporation did not exist. Having one customer is part of the picture, not the whole test. Bring your agreement and how the work is actually arranged, and we will explain what applies. Read our guide on CRA reviews of trucking businesses for the detail.

Do I need to file T4A slips for the drivers I pay?

Say your business is in trucking. If you paid a Canadian-controlled private corporation more than $500 in a year for services, that payment has to be reported on a T4A slip, in box 048. From the 2025 tax year, the CRA charges penalties for missing this. We can prepare the slips.

Can you help with GST for my truck?

Yes. We handle GST registration questions, the returns, and the records that support what you claim back on fuel and repairs.

My books are behind. Can you still do the return?

Yes. We bring the books up to date first, then prepare the return. Tell us the situation when you call and we will quote for both.

Can I speak to someone in Punjabi?

Yes. Tell us your preferred language when you call or request a callback.
