Who this is for
- Incorporated businesses of any size that need their annual T2 return prepared and filed
- Owner-operated companies, including ones with no activity this year
- Companies switching from another preparer
- Companies that are behind on one or more years of returns
What to bring
- Last year's T2 return and Notice of Assessment, if available
- Your bookkeeping records for the fiscal year, or bank and credit card statements if the books are not up to date
- Sales records and invoices issued
- Receipts for business expenses
- Payroll records, if the company has employees
- GST filings made during the year, if registered
- The company's CRA business number and fiscal year end
What is included
We prepare the T2 corporate tax return from your year-end records. We go through the figures and the return with you. Then we file it with the CRA. You get a copy for your records.
Where the bookkeeping is not up to date, we can bring it up to date first. Bookkeeping, payroll and GST filing through the year are separate services and are described on our business services page.
Corporate tax support for growing and established businesses
We help newly incorporated businesses and larger established companies with corporate tax returns and related bookkeeping needs. Tell us about your business, existing records and deadlines. We will explain how we can help and confirm the work before starting.
How it works
- Call or request a callback. We ask about the company, its year end and what records you keep.
- Bring your records to our Surrey office. We go through them with you and tell you if anything is missing.
- We prepare and file. You review the return before it is filed, and you keep a copy.
Fees
Fees depend on the size of the company and the state of the records. We tell you the fee before we start.
Common questions
Is this service for incorporated businesses?
Yes. The T2 is the return a corporation files. If you work for yourself but are not incorporated, your business income goes on your personal return instead. See our personal tax page for that.
My company had no activity this year. Do I still need to file?
Generally, yes. A resident corporation has to file a T2 return every year, even when there is no tax to pay, with limited exceptions. We can confirm what applies to your company.
What are the deadlines?
A T2 return is due six months after the company's fiscal year end. Any tax owing is generally due earlier than that. We will confirm the exact dates for your year end.
Can you help when the books are incomplete?
Yes. We can bring the records up to date first and then prepare the return. Tell us the situation when you call and we will explain what it involves.
Can I switch from another preparer?
Yes. Bring last year's return and Notice of Assessment and whatever records you have. We take it from there. If you want, we contact your previous accountant for the working papers. There is no fee to switch.
We just incorporated. What do we need to do in the first year?
Set up the books, decide how you will pay yourself, register for GST if needed, and note your first fiscal year end. We go through each of these with you at the start, so the first T2 is straightforward.
How is the fee set?
It depends on three things: the size of the company, the state of the records, and whether we also keep the books through the year. We tell you the fee before we start. If something changes during the work, we tell you before it affects the fee.
How do we exchange records if we are busy?
Most clients drop records at our Surrey office or send scans. We tell you what is missing in one list, not piece by piece. For larger companies we agree a schedule and a single point of contact on each side.
Can I speak to someone in Punjabi?
Yes. Our team speaks English and Punjabi. Tell us your preferred language when you call or request a callback.
